The International Sustainability Institute brings together a network of public agencies, real estate developers, architects and others involved in urban development to create healthier, economically robust cities in which people and nature thrive. The Institute identifies global best practices in six areas: Built Environment, Energy, Mobility, Water, Waste and Social Sustainability. It assists public and private urban leaders in adapting and advancing those best practices in their own cities by bringing together the appropriate influential organizations to work together to implement sustainability practices.

The Institute is a 501-C3 non-profit organization, which is funded by foundation and grant money as well as research and consulting contracts.
